This IOC takes place prior to the MiPschool Greenville 2015

Introduction

The 9th Mitochondrial Physiology School (MiPschool) is being held from August 10-13 in Greenville, North Carolina. MiPschools are organized and sponsored in part by the Mitochondrial Physiology Society.

The purpose of the school will be to provide a comprehensive "crash" course in mitochondrial bioenergetics using the Bioenergetics IV text by David G. Nicholls and Stuart Ferguson and selected primary literature as reference material. Emphasis will be placed on problem-based learning, small group interactions, etc. The course will also offer hands-on practical training on different aspects of mitochondrial function. At the end of the 3+ day school, it is anticipated participants will have a sound understanding of the principles of bioenergetics as well as the advantages and limitations of techniques currently used to study mitochondrial function. The course is intended to serve the interests of researchers new to the field as well as those with experience. Participants will also have the opportunity to share their research in short oral presentation (4+1 min) and/or poster format.

Ample social activities are also planned to facilitate interactions among attendees, culminating with a visit to historic Fort Macon and and an evening dinner cruise on the ocean.

A one-and-half day pre-MiPschool Oroboros O2k-Workshop will take place from 9th to 10th August 2015. Separate registration for this workshop is required.
