I have extensively tested FAO in PMFBs using the Palmitoyl-Carnitine, Palmitoyl-CoA, and L-Carnitine.
Protocol: For maximal respiration we make sequential additions of 18ยตM PC, 20ยตM PCoA, and 5mM Carnitine. Addition of ADP induces a peak rate of O2 consumption that is not increased with FCCP addition.
