Oroboros Careers

Place of work

Innsbruck - the city in the Alps: Tyrol and its capital Innsbruck offer the highest standards of quality of life in Austria, combining the unique alpine surroundings with an excellent infrastructure. High living standards include international schools, a very good health care system, political stability and outdoor sport activities on the doorstep, e.g. skiing, hiking, mountain climbing.

C# and .NET development team leader - medical laboratory instrumentation

Based in Innsbruck in the heart of the Tyrolean alps, OROBOROS is a world leader in instrumentation for mitochondrial respirometry. We are offering an exciting opportunity for a senior C# and .NET developer to lead the team developing a new generation of software to support our highly successful instruments.

The ideal candidate will have substantial experience leading a software team in the development of desktop scientific applications. The vision for the future of OROBOROS INSTRUMENTS is an open architecture that allows open and flexible access to real-time and historic data from scientific experiments, on-site and across the internet. Therefore, a knowledge of secure real-time networking, cloud computing and cloud hosted databases is of advantage, as is an understanding of data analytics and statistics for time-series analysis. Some knowledge of laboratory and medical instrumentation is beneficial, but not essential.

The successful candidate will join the international OROBOROS team at the beginning of this exciting new chapter in our history. Based in Innsbruck, he or she will have the opportunity to build and lead a software team that will greatly influence our future success, and will become a part of the international scientific community in mitochondrial respirometry.

The salary is performance-oriented according to the Austrian wage agreement (Kollektivvertrag für Angestellte und Lehrlinge in Handelsbetrieben), commensurate with experience and qualification.

Bioinformatics

Within the K-Regio project MitoFit, we offer a full-time position in Workpackage 2. The position in the 3-year project is open for permanent contination (OROBOROS INSTRUMENTS) and is closely linked to the COST Action MITOEAGLE.
  • Workpackage 2: Our goal is to establish an integration and analysis environment for measurements of mitochondrial respiration (O2k-technology) with external data (cell physiology, anthropometry, spiroergometry, lifestyle, genomics) in the context of fitness evaluation and clinical diagnostics. Within the scope of the MitoFit project, a Knowledge Management Platform (MitoFit-KMP) will be established. This KMP will accomplish the integration of all relevant data and provide a presentation platform for mitochondrial functional diagnostics. The MitoFit-KMP will include: a data management system for the current and planned instruments (MitoFit-DMS), and a database (MitoFit-DB) comprising proprietary and publicly available data that allow researchers to query experimental data and perform integrative analyses. Closely linked to WP1, a strategy will be developed on the transition of the DatLab software from a continuously updated and extended research tool to a component of the O2k as a medical device.
