MitoEAGLE Feedback

  • I am particularly interested in the effects of hypoxia/reoxygenation and environmental toxins on mitochondrial function. As you might remember from our recent meeting at the MiP conference, I mostly work with non-model organisms, specifically invertebrate extremophiles whose mitochondria are exceptionally resilient to toxins and hypoxia/reoxygenation, in order to determine the mechanisms of this tolerance which may also have implications for human conditions such as ischemia-reperfusion or toxic metal overload. I am interested in opportunities to join the network of researchers working on similar questions in humans and mammalian models and potentially contribute to the MitoEAGLE initiative. I am currently at UNC Charlotte but will be moving to Uni Rostock (Germany) in July 2016, which would make it easier for me to collaborate with European partners. Therefore, I would be very much interested in learning more about this project and opportunities to contribute to it. - Inna Sokolova (2016).
